Our treatments in detail
A lens suited to your eyes and your life.
The lens is chosen by the eye surgeon after a full examination of your eyes. Here are the main options.
01
Far, intermediate, near
Trifocal lens
The most complete lens: it shares light across three distances (far away, screen or dashboard, and reading). It replaces your natural lens and stays in place for life.
Ideal for: Presbyopia, cataract, and wanting to stop relying on glasses day to day.
Far, intermediate and near vision
Implants from recognised brands
Toric version if you have astigmatism
Both eyes treated during the same stay, a few days apart
02
Extended depth of focus
EDOF lens
Continuous vision from far to intermediate distance (computer, cooking, dashboard), usually with fewer night-time halos than a trifocal. Glasses may still be useful for close reading.
Ideal for: Frequent night driving, priority on distance and screen vision.
Very good far and intermediate vision
Fewer light effects at night
Can be combined with a slight near adjustment
Available in a toric version
03
Astigmatism
Toric lens
A lens that also corrects astigmatism (distorted or blurred vision at every distance). It comes in trifocal, EDOF and monofocal versions.
Ideal for: Astigmatism together with presbyopia or cataract.
Astigmatism corrected during the same operation
Lens position precisely measured
Can be combined with a trifocal or EDOF
04
Classic option
Monofocal lens
It corrects one distance only, usually distance vision. Reading glasses are still needed. It is offered when the eye is not suited to a multifocal lens.
Ideal for: Cataract where a multifocal lens is not suitable, or personal choice.
Excellent vision quality at the chosen distance
Very few light effects
Reading glasses after the operation
How it works
A new lens, in place of your own.
With age, the natural lens loses its flexibility (presbyopia) and then becomes cloudy (cataract). A multifocal lens implant replaces it for good.
1
The natural lens is removed
Through a 2 to 3 mm micro-incision, the surgeon removes your natural lens, clouded by cataract or stiffened by presbyopia.
2
The implant is placed
The folded implant is slipped into place and unfolds inside the eye. It stays there for life and you cannot feel it.
3
Light is shared out
Thanks to fine rings on its surface, the lens sends light to several distances: you see clearly far away, at mid-distance and up close.
Simplified diagram: a trifocal lens creates three points of focus (far, intermediate, near).
Choosing well
Trifocal, EDOF or monofocal?
The surgeon advises you after the examination. This table helps you understand the differences.
Implant
Without glasses
Halos at night
For whom
Trifocal
Far, intermediate and near
Possible at first, fading over a few weeks to a few months
No longer wearing glasses day to day
EDOF
Far and intermediate (screen, cooking)
Less common than with a trifocal
Night driving, very sharp distance vision
Monofocal
One distance only (usually far)
Very rare
Multifocal not suitable; reading glasses needed
Toric version
Also corrects astigmatism
Depends on the lens chosen

Who is it for?
Are you a good candidate?
Only an eye examination can tell. Send us your latest eye tests: the surgeon will give you an initial opinion.
Usually a good candidate
Presbyopia, usually from around 50
Cataract, and wanting to depend less on glasses
Short-sightedness, long-sightedness or astigmatism as well
Otherwise healthy eyes (retina, optic nerve)
To discuss with the surgeon
Macular degeneration, advanced glaucoma or retinal disease
Keratoconus or irregular cornea
Severe dry eye (to be treated first)
Very frequent night driving (possible halos)
Previous laser surgery (LASIK, PRK): trickier lens calculation

Surgery on the first eye
Anaesthetic eye drops, about 15 to 30 minutes. Back to the hotel the same day, with a protective shield.
Day 4
Check-up and second eye
Check-up of the first eye, then surgery on the second eye

Questions about multifocal lens implants
Does the operation hurt?
No: the eye is numbed with anaesthetic drops, sometimes with a mild sedative. You may feel some discomfort, stinging or watering for a few hours afterwards.
Will I see halos around lights?
It is possible, especially at night with a trifocal lens. These effects usually fade over a few weeks to a few months as the brain adapts. The surgeon explains what to expect with the lens chosen.
When can I fly and drive again?
The surgeon gives the go-ahead at the final check-up, usually at the end of your stay. For driving, wait for their approval once your vision is stable and good enough (often after a few days).
From what age can I have the operation?
Usually from around 50, once presbyopia has set in, or at any age for cataract. The examination shows whether a multifocal lens suits your eyes.
I have had laser eye surgery (LASIK, PRK). Is it still possible?
Often yes, but calculating the lens is trickier. Mention it in your request and send your previous reports if you can.
Will I still need glasses?
Most patients with a trifocal no longer wear them day to day. For very small print or dim light, glasses may still help, especially with an EDOF or monofocal lens.
What happens after I get home?
You keep using the drops as prescribed. Your coordinator stays reachable on WhatsApp, and a check-up with an eye doctor near you is advised within the first month.
Is there a guarantee?
Yes, the procedure is covered by the clinic’s guarantee: [DURATION AND CONDITIONS TO BE SPECIFIED].
